Moving Forward!! First Gig in a While, Montessori School of Raleigh

Long time no see, figured it was about time to start letting the world know what I’m working on these days! Well, I went and did it. I cut ties from my day job at Target and struck out on my own to concentrate on music, and I’ve never been happier. Of course, with that comes the pressure to produce, or else it’s back to the same ol’ game. And honestly, that’s motivation enough.

I’ve already had my first gig too, which is the subject of today’s post. I did some background music for The Montessori School of Raleigh, three tracks in total. They’re using my tracks in promotional videos for the school, updating current parents on the goings-on and hoping to attract new ones. The segments I’ve worked on have showcased different teaching and learning techniques employed at the school, shown through the kids in their classroom environment.

From a musical standpoint, it’s not a difficult exercise to get behind the imagery in the videos. Kids and learning and innocence and happiness pretty much gives me everything I need right out the gate. I was fairly conservative with the genre, felt like an orchestral/instrumental feel would fit for this type of project. These videos have also been a good exercise for trying NOT to overwhelm the subject matter with anything too “epic”; I naturally prefer a more grandiose tone in my music, but it’s important to adapt your personal style and utilize different genres to suit the project as well.

I very much enjoyed working on the videos, and I hope you enjoy what I came up with! Please check out the tracks and hit me up with your feedback. If you need original music for a project that you, or anyone you know, are involved with, feel free to contact me through the site or social media and I’ll be happy to talk with you. Thanks for stopping by!
